Dear KEC members,

As the coronavirus continues to impact our region, Kootenai Electric Cooperative’s (KEC) commitment to safety and providing exceptional service remains the same. In response to Governor Little’s Statewide Stay-Home Order, we are taking additional measures to safeguard our employees and the public while also ensuring our members continue to receive reliable power, which is listed as 1 of several “essential services” within the Governor’s order that must be maintained. It is for these reasons our employees remain working while other businesses are closed.

How are we accomplishing this? In addition to the measures we’ve previously communicated, a few additional measures were implemented last week.

For instance:

  • Our office staff began working remotely, including our member services employees. You can count on them to provide assistance during office hours by phone and email. Other than not being able to walk into our office to do business, this change should be unnoticeable.
  • Our line crews, field employees, and vegetation management personnel have been assigned to tasks directly related to the continuity of electric service. As a reminder, if you see a KEC line crew or field employee, we ask that you adhere to social distancing practices and not approach them.

As always, line crews will also remain on call to promptly respond to any power outages or emergencies. You can report your outage through SmartHub or by calling us at (877) 744-1055. Visit Our Outage Center Page to learn more.

These are indeed exceptional times. Please be assured that KEC is poised to help our members navigate them by being here for you. Thank you for your cooperation and helping us to better serve you.

Sincerely,
