In January 2025, KEC District 4 Director David Bobbitt resigned from the KEC board of directors after more than 10 years of service. During his tenure, Bobbitt served as the audit committee chair, where he oversaw the review of the cooperative’s accounts, internal controls and financial reporting for the members.
“We are grateful for David’s board service and dedication to our members,” said Bill Swick, KEC’s Board Chair. “His extensive finance and banking expertise greatly benefited the cooperative and members.”
In the event of a director vacancy, the KEC bylaws allow the remaining directors to fill the vacancy by a majority vote. The newly appointed director will serve until the next annual meeting, where the appointed director may then run for election to complete the remaining term of the director who vacated the position.
To fill the district 4 vacancy, the board of directors took the following action at their January 30, 2025, meeting:
- Appointed Roger Tinkey to district 4. Prior to this appointment, Roger was a current director serving in a district at-large position. He resides in district 4.
- Appointed Karl Meier to the district at-large position previously filled by Roger Tinkey. Karl has 40 years of combined engineering and management experience providing solutions for factory automation of motion control and integrated sensor systems. He previously served as Chairman of the KEC Nominating Committee.
Tinkey and Meier will serve in these positions until the next annual meeting scheduled for September 13, 2025.
2025 Election Updates
As the director vacancy process outlines, Tinkey and Meier will stand for election in 2025, in districts 4 and at-large, respectively. District 1, which is currently represented by Tim Meyer, is also up for election. Voting for the 2025 director election will take place by mail and online with the results announced at the annual meeting scheduled for September 13, 2025. Nominating Committee Seeks Candidates
The Nominating Committee is looking for members interested in serving on the KEC board of directors. Candidates must meet the qualifications outlined in the cooperative’s bylaws, be able to invest a minimum of 60 days per year on board-related activities and be able to periodically attend conferences and director training. Candidates should also have strong business acumen and a broad understanding of regional and national energy issues.
There are three positions up for election in 2025:
- District 1: Currently served by Tim Meyer.
- District 4: Currently served by Roger Tinkey.
- District At-Large: Currently served by Karl Meier.

The deadline for board candidate applications and petition nominations has been extended to March 31, 2025.
