- Report power outages with the SmartHub App: The best way to quickly report an outage is to use the SmartHub app. Once you open the app click “Report Outage/Contact Us” at the top of the home screen and follow the prompts. Visit our Manage Your Online Account page to learn more about downloading the app and registering as a new user.
- Report outages by phone: You can also report your outage by calling (877) 744-1055. Please be ready to provide at least 1 of the following pieces of information when calling: the phone number associated with your account, your account number, or the meter number associated with the outage location. If your phone number has changed, please contact us to update to help speed up outage reporting. In large outages, the phone system can become overloaded. If this happens, use the app or try calling again.
- Stay informed about outage restoration:
- Outage alerts by text or email: Visit SmartHub to log in and manage your notifications. You can choose to receive outage notifications via text or email. In the app, click More> Settings>Manage notifications. From your computer click the notifications tab at the top of the page. You may choose to receive notifications for unplanned and planned outages, as well as, outage updates and restoration.
- Track outages with our online outage map: Visit our KEC’s Outage Map page gives information on where outages occur in our service territory and how many members are affected. If an estimated time of restoration (ETR) is available it will be posted on the outage map. Keep in mind, that it takes time for crews to be dispatched to make repairs and determine ETRs. ETRs may also change so check back throughout the outage for updates.
- Follow us on Facebook for updates: We will post updates on Facebook as we have them. Please note: KEC's Facebook page is not monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and should not be used to report outages or electrical emergencies.
- Safety comes first: Stay away from power lines on the ground. Always assume downed lines are energized even if the lines are sagging or broken. Visit our Safety page to learn more about power outage safety, winter storm preparedness, generator safety, and more.
- Members with Special Needs: KEC is not able to guarantee uninterrupted electric service. If you have a medical need that relies on electricity, the Food and Drug Administration published Guidance on Home Use Devices, recommending that individuals dependent on a medical device establish a plan for responding to a power outage and maintain medical information, a list of emergency contacts, extra oxygen tanks, battery backups, and contact information for transportation services.
