Level 2 Programmable Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate

EV charging in garageElectric vehicles (EV) are growing in popularity in our service area and we look forward to helping KEC members learn how to effectively manage EV recharging. To encourage efficient EV battery management strategies, we are offering a $350 rebate for Level 2 programmable electric vehicle chargers installed at member homes.

A Level 2 charger requires 240-volts, the same voltage used by an electric clothes dryer. This charges your vehicle faster than a Level 1 charger, which uses a standard 120-volt three-prong outlet charger. A variety of Level 2 chargers are available from different manufacturers and should be selected to match your vehicle.

Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate Form

Set It and Forget It: A Level 2 programmable charger allows members to selectively charge their vehicles during our non-peak hours—between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Non-peak charging benefits KEC members by spreading out our electric load over time, which reduces the need for costly system upgrades.

Things to consider before installing your charger:

  • Step 1: Contact KEC prior to installing an EV charger to ensure your electric service is adequately sized. We will review the electric supply capacity to your home and notify you if your electric supply is adequate for the addition of an EV charger. If your electric service is inadequate, you will need to modify your service. Learn more about that process.
  • Step 2: Find a state licensed and bonded electrical contractor to install your charger.

Looking for an EV? Visit energy.gov to find the best electric car to meet your needs! Search for makes and models, learn about EV charging stations, find tax incentives, explore how an EV can save you money, and discover other benefits of EVs.
