Operation Round Up® Grants Awarded to Our Community

Operation Round Up® is supported by KEC members who voluntarily “round up” their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help our neighbors in need. The extra pennies go into the Kootenai Electric Trust fund which distributes grants to worthy causes in our community. In May 2026, the Trust Board awarded grants to the following organizations:

  • $2,500 to Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho to purchase flooring for four homes that are currently under construction for low-income families.
  • $2,500 to the Lake City Center to support the Lake City Meals on Wheels program for seniors in Kootenai County.
  • $2,500 to On Site for Seniors to launch a new program, Respite for All Foundation, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for older adults.
  • $2,500 to the Post Falls Food Bank to support transporting, storing and distributing food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in our community.
  • $2,500 to the Rathdrum-Westwood Historical Society to purchase educational pieces for the Rathdrum Museum.
  • $2,500 to St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho to support Trinity Group Homes residents in Kootenai County who are living with mental health challenges by strengthening their ability to maintain safe, stable, and self-sufficient households.
  • $2,500 to United Way of North Idaho to purchase age-appropriate books for children participating in North Idaho Early Learning Collaborative community events.
  • $2,500 to the Worley Fire Foundation to purchase a commercial kitchen stove for their new facility.

Are You ‘Rounding Up’ Your KEC Bill?

If not, we need your help! Start “rounding up” your bill. Members who choose not to contribute to Operation Round Up or who would like to begin contributing may simply opt out or opt-in on their bill or contact KEC by phone, letter, or email.
