KEC is now offering you another billing choice: an affordable prepaid electric rate for residential members. With SMART PAY you can prepay for your electric consumption monthly, weekly or randomly—the choice is yours. The only deadline is making sure you pay before your account reaches a zero balance. SMART PAY is an innovative solution for members who no longer want to wait until the end of the billing cycle to find out how much they owe. Now – all day, any day—you can know your electric consumption through an in-home display. By knowing how much energy you and your family are consuming, you can better budget your electric prepayments. Studies show that members who pay in advance are using 10-15% less electricity than members who pay after use. The prepayment is immediately credited to your electric account. As you use electricity, the daily calculated billed amount is deducted from your account balance and displayed on the in-home display unit. When your balance gets low, you get a warning message on the in-home display. The SMART PAY program does not require a deposit to be paid and you will never be charged penalties for late payment, disconnection or reconnection fees again.
