Energy Efficiency » Smart Choice Rebates

Smart Choice Rebates

KEC offers energy efficiency rebates to members for the following products (see below for rebate forms):

75 Gallon – EF.92
80 Gallon – EF.91
105 Gallon – EF.91

For Marathon Water Heaters (50-gallon and larger) receive a $150 rebate.

For standard water heaters the rebate is $50.

ENERGY Star® ClotheswashersSee ENERGY STAR  or call KEC for assistance.

With an electric water heater and:

  • MEF 2.0-2.19 - $30 rebate
  • MEF 2.20-2.45 - $50 rebate
  • MEF 2.46 or higher - $70 rebate

Non-electric water heaters - $20

ENERGY Star® Refrigerators/Freezers

ENERGY Star® Homes

Home must have a heat pump installed to Energy Star specifications in order to qualify. See Northwest ENERGY STAR or call KEC for more information.

Depending on construction and heating system, rebate starts at $850.00 to as much as $2,000. 

ENERGY Star® Manufactured Homes (NEEM)

Heat Pump Rebates 

(Installed by a certified PTCS contractor only). See Performance Tested Comfort Systems Northwest in order to find a contractor near you.

Level 1: Smart Choice HSPF 9.0/SEER 14 = $300

Level 2: PTCS Commissioning + Smart Choice = $800

Level 3: PTCS Commissioning + PTCS Duct Tightening + Smart Choice = $ 1,300

To meet level 2, you must meet level 1. To meet level 3, you must meet level 1 and 2.

Geothermal Heat Pumps.

Must be installed by a certified PTCS contractor.

Windows

Homes must be electrically heated to qualify and the pre-existing windows must be single pane (or single pane with storms) or double pane with metal frames. Window replacements must meet specific NFRC guidelines. Replacement installation that results in increased window area is not allowed in this program. Self-installed windows must be pre- and post-inspected by a KEC representative to qualify.

$3 per square foot

See rebate form below. Program effective July 1, 2010. Invoices must be dated post-July 1, 2010 to be eligible.

InsulationThe home must be electrically heated to qualify. The incentives are based on the R value presently installed in the home. Insulation rebates range from $.35 to $1.12 per square foot.

Rebate Agreement Conditions
1.Disclaimers.  Kootenai Electric Cooperative hereby disclaims any and all implied or express warranties (including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose), and shall not be responsible for any presentation or promise with respect to the equipment, materials, or labor required for the installation of the equipment on the premises, or the cost of such equipment, materials and labor.

Kootenai Electric Cooperative is providing funding under this Agreement at the request of the Participant.  Because of the variability and uniqueness of individual energy use, it is not possible to predict exact energy savings (if any) that may accrue to any particular participant.  Kootenai Electric Cooperative, by providing funding, does not warrant that the equipment will achieve any reduction in energy costs to the Participant.

2. Release.  As part of the consideration of this Agreement, Participant hereby releases and shall indemnify, hold harmless and defend Kootenai Electric Cooperative from any and all claims, losses, harm, costs, liabilities, damages and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) of any nature whatsoever arising directly or indirectly out of or in connection with the installation of energy efficiency equipment at the premises or any materials and labor required for such installation.

3. Verifications.  Kootenai Electric Cooperative and/or the Bonneville Power Administration shall have the right to verify equipment installed on the Participants’ premises.
